It was a weekend filled with both sad feelings and happy times for us at my house. After finding out that our beloved 12 1/2 year old dog, Chloe, was sick with kidney disease, we made the difficult decision to let her pass peacefully to eliminate her suffering this past Friday. The three of us went together and gave her lots of loving and I know it was the right thing for her and us, regardless of how we struggled with it. Rob and I also decided that we would fill the weekend with family time to help us and our son cope.
Friday evening we laughed, talked, and splashed in the hot tub along with toasting Chloe (Campbell with Pelligrino... or agua con gas, as he likes to call it!). Saturday morning we enjoyed time at the Nasher Sculpture Center for First Saturday. If you have never done this, let me tell you that you should! Our son loves the art scavenger hunt, crafts, and both my "boys" loved their last romp through the Ernesto Neto "Cuddle on the Tightrope" exhibit. The exhibit ends this weekend on September 9th so hurry, hurry, hurry! Great photo op and lots o' fun!
The weekend went on with extended family time and more togetherness on Labor Day. All in all, we are coping. Some moments rougher than others but we wish Chloe a peaceful playtime in doggie heaven. We know she will greet us with wagging tail, her trademark "smile", and lots of doggie drool someday.
My handsome boys playing in Ernesto Neto's Cuddle on the Tightrope and around the Nasher gardens.
Our beautiful, sweet Chloe
