Canstruction Dallas 2015

The Canstruction Dallas teams have designed, they've built, and tonight they will celebrate and find out who the award winners are.  29 groups of architects, engineers, and contractors have come together to create some pretty incredible structures in the city of Dallas... All out of cans.  That's right, cans... Of food. This year we saw an unbelievable amount used with teams setting a new record for Dallas at a final count of 161,544 cans thatwill be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.  Now that is something to celebrate!

After the awards are announced they will appear on the SDA Dallas Canstruction and Canstruction Facebook pages. Make sure to check back and find out who the winners are.  The public can also vote for their favorite and have an opportunity to donate to NTFB. Check out One Can Dallas to cast your vote for People's Choice and help fight hunger!

You also don't want to miss your chance to see the canstructures in person at the Science Place Building during the State Fair of Texas from September 25 - October 18.

If you live in East Dallas, you may have happened upon GSR Andrade Architects' recent renovation of the Harry Stone Recreation Center.  I was honored to photograph the interior and exterior for the firm and was thrilled to see that the project has been published in the fall issue of Columns Magazine by AIA Dallas.  Congratulations on the feature, GSR Andrade!

While I was photographing the project it was fantastic to see so many children and adults from the neighborhood really enjoying the newly renovated center.  Many of them approached and said how much they loved the design.

Below are a few more images of the fantastic blue glass panels.
